because this form hasn't been doing so well i have taken the liberty and start a new series of Cassidy Keeps (CK). first we need mutants. first read the criteria on what kinds of mutants i will accept

1. OBEY THE LAWS OF HEREDITY!!!- I hate it when people make a mutant that looks nothing like a human. sure you can make a mutant with external traits such as wings, claws, gills, third eye, those are all logical mutations that can occur in nature. but by no means can a human give birth to a rock monster, a being made of pure energy, or a half plant guy. As for people who are born with funky colors, i personally think that's cool as long as there skin color is because of some symptom of there power, such as a guy who can shoot silver needles might be blue because of the chemicals in his body reacted that way (there are blue people in the world FYI, i saw it on opera Wink). if a person has an ability like telekinesis don't make him purple or something like that unless it is because a chemical reaction that is happening in there body. in short, if you have an external mutation, explain why it is there and how it relates to the power and not just because you feel like it.

2. REMEMBER WHAT EVOLUTION IS ALL ABOUT- evolution is about gaining new traits to help you in your environment. the powers your mutants have should be the result of the circumstances around them. for example if your character lives in a poverty area don't give them the ability to give others bad luck, that doesn't help them at all! give them ability such as to grow plants for food, make things gold, or create good luck. Another thing to be said on this is that mutants with more than one ability aren't really cool. for example, a mutant with super strength, flight, and ice breath may look cool but it flaws the theory of evolution. a mutant should have only one power. secondary mutations are okay i guess but only if it has some connection with the first. (like Jean Grey having telekinesis and later on gaining telepathy, that kind of mutation works well with the first)

3. GIVE THEM A REASONABLE POWER- i hate it when people make god like mutants, a mutant should have limitations and some sort of theme to there power. on the flip side don't give them dopey powers ( i saw one person give there mutant the power to only lie, not only is that not beneficial to them it isn't even super)

4. GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO BE CONTROVERSIAL OVER- give them a political or religious belief that might make them think about a situation when it comes to terms of morality. give your character social limitations so they seem more life like. not everyone has the same views and rpg is a great way to expose differences in cutlers & groups without offending people with all that political correctness.

just a side note to this, be careful not to make them TOO Controversial or else people will start to think your supporting some sort of agenda, this in turn will make them want to create characters that support there views then the next thing you got is a cultural war zone and it takes all the fun out of the game

5. AVOID SUPERNATURAL POWERS- We are mutants not sorcerers. it's okay to have them experience a spiritual sensations but all that supernatural stuff kind of ruins the evolutionary experience.

6. BE CREATIVE- powers like super strength & levitation are grossly overused, try to think of a new ability. also know that being powerful isn't always better. sometimes a simple cheesy mutation is more appealing than a mutant with a powerful attack.for example i read about a mutant who can replay images in her head like a camera. obviously this isn't the kind of an ability that is good on the battle field but it is useful in other ways such as gaining information or simply remembering sentimental moments. that is not only creative but it gives the character more meaning than to be a tool of war. i personally made a mutant that has the ability to make others wise, not a physically strong ability but highly powerful in the seance that it could stop criminals and make them realize what they are doing is wrong. (if your all for power and being god like then try looking at the smaller stuff, they portray god more that the stereotypical super human powers). as beautiful and original simple powers are though big and bad powers are fun too so don;t think i was discouraging you from making them, just be original.

(if you have seen the show heroes than use that as a guide for what kind of characters i am looking for)

Next if you can fill out the application below you would be taking the first step into the world of mutants

i promise to be here at least 3x a week to check up on the threads. i am looking for about 100 NEW characters (this means i have already looked through the old characters and picked out the ones i liked so there is no reason to post them again). once i have gotten that then the real fun will begin.

I'm curious Powerhouse... What old characters did you decide could stay?

sounds fun
NAME: Tabbi Lee (Flare)
AGE: 14
SEX: Female
LOCATION: born in Virginia, lived in Canada from age 8-12, wandered aimlessly across America since
POWER: controls fire (can create it, unlike Pyro), entire body can set on fire, melts most substances by touching them, can fly, can possess others (her body goes into an alternate dimension when this happens, which she can only stay in for up to an hour, bit can only do this up to 3 times a day because it drains her of energy)
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: caucasian (surprisingly pale); has orange eyes (flames instead of pupils and irises); she's 5' 2" and thin (not quite developed); her hair is brown when powers are inactive, but looks like it's made of flames when powers are active; has slight southern accent, has an amazingly accurate fake British accent which helps with disguises
PERSONALITY: incredibly stubborn, fights against ANYONE (even her blood-related sister) for what she believes, easily impressionable because of her age, needs constant support because she thinks she's worthless
PERSONAL HISTORY: When Tabbi was 12, her powers first manifested. Her parents saw this as a golden oppotunity, and used Tabbi as their alternative heating source. She heated their food, lit up the house, and heated the house. Her insensitive parents saw nothing wrong with their actions, not understanding what it was like to be a mutant. She murdered her parents while her sister was at a camp, and ran away, sick of the constant demanding from her parents. She later found out her biological parents had died in a plane crash, and the two she murdered were actually heads of an anti-mutant group, intent on eliminating all mutants. She soon found her only living relative, her aunt Elaine. (all her other relatives were killed by her "parents" agency, hoping they would never find Flare to take her home) Elaine had no idea how to take care of a mutant child, so she sent Tabbi to CK. Tabbi still tries to contact her aunt, but Elaine has gone into hiding.
its a little weird, I know    Grin

I'm taking out the whole "posess people" thing. Its starting to seem a little dumb to me now. plus, it has nothing to do with her fire powers. the flying is complicated, but I'll try to explain:

she has an abnormally high body temperature and releases heat out of her body like everyone else. but, she can concentrate that heat into one area and release it. it usually comes out of her feet (she wears special shoes that allow the heat to flow through them) causing her to rise and fly.
