Synopsis:

Rahne is proclaimed descendant of Caesar because of her red hair, and the mutants are given a triumph through the streets of Nova Roma. Gallio wines and dines them in his home, and Rahne offers to help him against Senator Aquilla, which starts an argument with Sam. Roberto sees his mother a captive, but is stopped by guards from approaching her. Dani escapes but is attacked. Castro shoots Roberto and is felled by Rahne. He claims to have been sent by Senator Aquilla, whom Gallio then orders arrested. Roberto and Sam go along to make sure the senator is not killed in the process. Gallio, in Latin, brags that he now controls Nova Roma, not realizing that Roberto understands Latin.

Dani awakens in the sanctuary of the cult of fire with Amara, and they watch as Selene sacrifices a girl to the flames. She says she is an immortal is a goddess who takes life from these sacrifices. Dani attacks her, breaking her control of Amara, but she is knocked into the pit of fire, where she is transformed into Magma.
